Certification is per individual diamond, not per pair or per piece. Every diamond of 1.00 carat and above arrives with its own IGI grading report, and the report number is laser-inscribed on the stone's girdle — verify it anytime at igi.org. Diamonds under 1.00 carat (for example a 1 ct total-weight pair, which is two 0.50 ct stones, or the stones in tennis bracelets and eternity bands) are graded to the same standards but are not individually certified.
